Goodbye Defy!

Today my DEFY washing machine decided that this was her last day, on this earth. Kicked the bucket and went to DEFY heaven.

No goodbye note, no warning, or even taking the time to ask me if this was good timing for me? Nothing, just gone. Such bad financial timing! I find that this is often the case with things in life.

Of course this machine was over 10 years old and has served a full well lived life. She has worked hard for most of her life for my Ouma (Gran) and then for me. How can I hold a grudge against her? It was her time, as all machines are built to last 10 years.

I was not going to let her go without one last fight. I called 'The Guy', you know, the one you call for times like this. He came in, opened her up, and within 5 minutes shook his head and said 'It's time to let her go'. And then proceeded to close her up and left!!

There I was standing in front of my trusty machine. Thinking...

What now...

This is such bad timing...

Finances are tight...

Wash basket is overflowing...

And to top it all off what do you do with the machine once she's decided to leave this world? Bury her? No... Can't do that, that's pollution. Is there a 'Guy' I can call for this job? My good friend Kate, had a very appealing suggestion. "Maybe throw her off the balcony and leave her to the wolves." Mmmm....

No lets get serious here. I tried to google it. "How do you dispose of an old washing machine?" The search came back with so many options on how to dispose of dirty water. There was one interesting response though. It led me to this blog. http://www.strangecultureblog.com/2006/10/broken-washing-machine-disposal.html. Very interesting, am thinking of joining and trying my luck!

In the end I let myself grieve for 5 full minutes.
Took a deep breathe...
And moved on...

It's about time!

Recently I began to feel a deep frustration within me for some adventure and fun. Wondered why other people seem to be having loads of fun and why their lives are filled with excitement and adventure.
I realised the only way to change this rut that I'm in is to take life by the scruff of the neck and make things happen. If you want to run away for the weekend to some isolated place in the middle of no where go for it, make plans, don't delay. If there are things you have always wanted to do, don't even hesitate, go for it!
It's procrastination that brings life to a stand still.
Here's to many more adventures.

Loved this Blog from Serendipity

discoveries
As it turns out, I've married a Trekkie (I don't even know how to spell it - Star Trek freak). He tried to make me watch a Star Trek movie last weekend. I did my best, but . . . um . . . no. Not for me.
We've made many such "fun" discoveries over the past two months. And, if it weren't 11:22 on Sunday night I could probably think of more to share with you. But as it is, I can't. So, you'll just have to wait until I remember . . .
I'm so over the winter. BRING ON THE SUMMER!!

THE BEGINNING:
Dear All

Thank you so much for being apart of something great and helping me buy my first car!!

As most of you may know, last year an opportunity had arisen for me to purchase, the world's coolest, beetle. With your donations I have been able to purchase my first car; "RUSTY"; the coolest car in the world!!
For those who want to know wot the hell is going on; here's the story of Rusty... Last year Friends of mine mentioned that they were thinking of selling there beetle for R8000. "That's cheap", you say, but for a student with only R50 in her back pocket, that seemed unreachable.
Although I've been the proud owner since October last year I have only recently been able to enjoy the full extent of my new found freedom! At the end of April I became a legal driver, as I FINALLY got my driver's licence so am now driving on the streets of Cape Town. LOOK OUT! The world's coolest beetle and I are roaring all over. Hoot if you can spot me...

Thank you once again.
